A1 COMP RESULTS: What a fantastic afternoon finals day, Saturday 29th October, was! All eight teams played off for prize money which inspired some fabulous tennis, and it was wonderful to see all players, of such a high standard, having so much fun o
n court, as well as at the off court celebrations at the end of the afternoon. Renee's team (Renee Beck, Lucy Wood, Niko Trkulja and Matthew Mullane) was quite superior in taking out first place, but Kathy's team (Kathy Eldridge, Nicole Nissen, Neil Smith and Robert Kilborn) gave it their best shot, producing some amazing rallies and superb shot making. Knoxy's team (Glenn Knox, Daniel Farrar, Melissa Anderson and Lisa Townsend) comfortably took out 3rd place over Adrian's team (Daniel Davies, Adrian Somerville, Lejla Husic and Casey Cross); Sue's team (Sue Woodward, Tim Fraser, Chris Gillies and Kerry Ballard) were victorious over Tim's team (Tim Bigg, Kris Balakrishnan, Hayley Ericksen and Rebecca Jones) and Vanessa's team (Vanessa Thompson, Kelly Blake, Matthew Thompson and Ash Radford-Sutton) had a win over Bart's team (Bart Bourgeois, Nick Turnham, Siobhan Campbell and Lex Dalley). Sue Woodward, Melissa Anderson, Bart Bourgeois and Glenn Knox were rewarded for all their help in organising the comp, getting players, obtaining reserves, etc, with baskets of fruit which Knoxy assured us would be munched up over the weekend. Thanks to NSTA Treasurer, Rick Anderson for taking on the barbecuing and presentation duties. Rick made note that it was probably the strongest mixed competition to be held in NSW and paid tribute to all players, particularly the ageless Neil Smith, who can still mix it with the best. All players expressed their appreciation of the comp, which is conducted to suit their needs, and everyone is looking forward to participating again next year.
