PRIMARY SCHOOLS CHALLENGE - Term 4:  400 players participated in our Term 4 Primary Schools Challenge held on Saturday 12th November.  Congratulations to Gordon West's team of Will Atkinson, Tom Chapman, Hannah Turl, Emma Watkins, Nick Pike and Lachie Basten, our 2011 Primary Schools Champions.  The 12 top ranked schools in 2011 who played off at Talus Street, finished in the following order:  1st Gordon West, 2nd Riverview, equal 3rd Neutral Bay and Lane Cove, 5th St Michaels, equal 6th Queenwood and Artarmon, 8th Wahroonga, 9th AFT, 10th Northbridge, 11th Lindfield East and 12th Mosman Prep.  Click here for full results  

We have had a wonderful year of Primary Schools Challenges and the NSTA wishes to thank: 

  • the teachers, parents and coaches who submitted teams
  • the players themselves
  • the parents who transported and supported the children
  • the tennis centres which have allowed us to use their venues, in particular Phryne Tonge at Forestville
  • NSTA Committee members who supervised the centres and drove the all-important pizzas

 NSTA JUNIOR ROUND ROBINS:  Sponsored by NORTHERN SUBURBS LADIES MIDWEEK TENNIS ASSN   Our 10s and 14s singles were washed out on Saturday 23rd July and rescheduled to the following Saturday, but our 12s singles and all doubles went ahead on Sunday 24th July.  We saw some wonderful tennis and some very keen competitors, especially in the boys singles but unfortunately entries were minimal in the girls singles with only the 12s being held.  However, Laura Wunderlich was a worthy winner of Div 1 with Karina Rakhimov runner up and Abby Martin winning Div 2 with Jenna Ireland runner up.  Div 1 winners were  Jamie Fraser in the 14 boys singles, Alex Turner 12s and Srijan Singh 10s.  The toughest division was Div 4 in the 10 boys singles with Lachlan Fisher defeating Lincoln Williams on 19 points and another two players, Jaden Mills and Lachlan Walker both tied on 18 points.  Thanks to everyone who participated and particular thanks to the Northern Suburbs Ladies Midweek Tennis Assn for sponsoring the event.  .  (Pictured:  Jenna Ireland and Abby Martin)
